What is a "structured address"?
Street, house number, postcode and town sit in separate fields (address type "S"). In the old combined format ("K") they were two free-text lines. Since 21 November 2025 only structured addresses are permitted on new QR-bills, for both the creditor's and the debtor's address. The "hybrid" format exists for bank payment files, not for the QR code.
What happens from 1 October 2026?
Several banks only guarantee processing of QR-bills with the old address format until the end of September 2026; after that, payments can be refused (PostFinance guarantees it until 13 November 2026). This date is set by the banks, not by SIX. Depending on the bank, the bill is refused when scanned or when the payment is submitted. Your customer can still type the payment in manually, but can no longer simply scan and pay.
My invoice is type K. Do I have to resend all open invoices?
Invoices already paid are not affected. Open invoices should be regenerated and sent again, otherwise you risk late payments and queries.
What applies from 14 November 2026 (version 2.4)?
From 14 November 2026 the Swiss Payment Standards no longer allow unstructured addresses in any payment order, not just QR-bills. Version 2.4 of the QR-bill guidelines applies from the same day: nothing changes for bills in CHF. For bills in EUR, QR-IBAN and QR reference are no longer possible; use a normal IBAN with a Creditor Reference (RF…) or no reference.
My customers pay by standing order. Do I need to do anything?
Banks have to update standing orders and payment templates to structured addresses by 13 November 2026. It is best to send customers who pay by standing order a new QR-bill with a structured address so they can update their order.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF or image is rendered in the browser and the QR code is read locally. No server ever sees your invoice.
